Our current relations:

Rome - One of but a few genuinely civilized nations in the known world. However, we feel they stole much of their culture from us.

Sparta - Their reputation for war worries us, though they are fellow Greeks. Trading.

Gargano - Outside our area of immediate interest, but trade has helped our relations.

Illyria - Heard of only in rumours as uncultured barbarians.

Byzantium - Unsure of intentions, Eastern culture unsettles us.

Carthage - Though seen as semi-barbarous by the people, the King and the council see how this powerful state could be useful in dealing with any western powers which become a problem. Trading.

Epirus - Friendly, fellow Greeks.

An alliance would indeed seem the natural course of actions. However, Theokritos does not feel he knows enough about your nation, its plans and what it stands for yet. He regretfully informs the esteemed council that, for now at least, he must reject their offer of an alliance.
