Re: Diplomacy
Nice try, but no way in hell. Not plentiful to be a profitable trade commodity. You neglected to mention that it's scarce as well as valuable.Tyrian purple (worth 20-15x the worth of gold)

Yes, only my allies will receive it if they wish. Also, your neglecting that many things were more expensive then gold at the time: silk for example.
"Tyrian purple was one of the most highly valued commodities in the ancient Mediterranean, being worth fifteen to twenty times its weight in gold. High Roman officials could only afford togas with a small stripe of it. Carthage also produced a less-valuable crimson pigment from the cochineal." Under the economy article.

Re: Diplomacy
Derp, no I'm not. I'm saying that due to the long manufacturing process, with the yields so small per shellfish used, it'd be impossible to make a decent profit for your nation. Smart-arse.cooki3 wrote:Also, your neglecting that many things were more expensive then gold at the time.

The faraway Bosporan Kingdom wishes to trade our Game for your Wool, it gets awfully chilly up here during the winter.

But how do you know for sure that the enemy of your enemy is your friend? Maybe they are not friends, but those who would wish to undermine the foundations of your little reign?
Don't be so quick to choose enemies and allies, for soon your friend may be your enemy and your enemy your friend.

Re: Diplomacy
Relations updated..
(Carthage will try to be peaceful with all Greeks because Carthage only wishes to rule the Western Mediterranean. City-states such as Athens, Pergamon, and others will be treated with respect: we won't fight for anything that doesn't belong to Carthage.)

Re: Diplomacy
King Theokritos I of Pergamon is pleased that our nations hold a mutual respect for each other, and would like to extend this into a friendship with a trade agreement: our olives for your bronze, at 10% extra in favour of the Carthaginians.
